Chinese New Year

I've been home for a while now, most of my time here I've spent on intern, working away at PwC. I really like that I get to meet so many people who are already on their way to being certified accountants or perhaps already are. I suppose its really the first time I am surrounded by professionals in this profession day in day out. And it is also the first time in my whole life I've been able to meet so many people who are all working full time and have life goals to meet.

It is different from meeting people in school and in Uni, where most have not yet made a decision about their future. Or if they have, it is still a question as to whether it is attainable, will that vital first step be made at all? I'm still looking forward to my own. In one year's time, I'll be a working adult. Will my view of the world change? I think so.

Anyways, its now nearly the end of CNY 2004, this new year is the first in many years where my family did not spend it on holiday somewhere in the world, subtlely or obviously avoiding some relatives and friends. Not that I like that, just that its been fixated in my dad's brain that CNY is the only time of the year when the whole family can go on holiday together. (He and mum never goes on holiday together without us either because 'someone must be here to look after the business!') Hence, the importance of this holiday to my family. Which is a big huge shame cause it cancels out all opportunity to visit Taiwan together, but I sense that dad is not too keen about going to Taiwan at all, don't know why? The independence issue maybe? Or does he just feel that its too Chinese? but it couldn't be that cause he loves bringing us back to FuJian... hmm...

Sister's left for the US of A in January... So the four of us spent the holidays at home entertaining friends, relaxing and visiting relatives... now that's my idea of a CNY... leave the holidays overseas to other times of the year I say...
