Chewing gum, should Singapore ban it?

True nationalism and sense of pride in one's country are never built on another country's pain.

A line gleaned from someone's Article on Singapore's Strait's Times. And I do quite agree with it... =)

What brought be to the article was actually the issue of gum sales in Singapore. Rove made as his opening joke on tonight's show the apparent un-ban of gum in the island republic so I thought I'd give it a search and see how true it is. I mean, it could be a JOKE. But he made it sound so funny that I just had to see if it really is true. And sadly, its not, I think. But it really did sound as if it was true...

I found instead, an article advocating the overturn of the ban but the author also wondered if Singaporeans could really be educated enough to start throwing their gums in wrappers instead of all over the place without it. As another writer wrote to lament, the lack of social etiquette of some Singaporeans. In her words, Sg could be a first world country with third world culture.

Oh well... the last of assignments gone and one more presentation to go and then the big EXAMS and i'm free as a bird!!! for one month at least =p
