Starbucks Experience, do you have one that is uniquely yours?

I just finished the Starbucks Experience not too long ago. From the beginning, from before I started reading the book (which althought sold in their stores, I purchased from elsewhere), I have been a fan of Starbucks Coffee. Not because I thought their coffee tastes superior as I am not one to judge that given that I am no coffee connoiseur, but because I like what they are offering me in terms of product taste, packaging and the environment.

I have visited Starbucks in every country/city that I have travelled to and the experience has always been good. Some might have been excellent, and there could have been a bad apple or two but overall, the feeling is nice. Like a home away from home ;-)

The stories oft mentioned in the book are rarely and hardly, if ever, likely to happen in Malaysia. However, the service level at the stores here are still generally better (across all stores) than other chains. This is based on personal experiences and experiences of friends, though some of you might beg to differ.

Like I said, I've been to Starbucks in a lot of countries and I always have a picture or two and some souvenir of sorts to show for it. Will entertain you with them all one day when I dig all of them out. There is one unique experience that I would like to share, which, to this day I can still remember clearly. This really evidences the gravity that the actions of these Baristas have on the consumers.

It happened in Los Angeles, California at the Starbucks in Kodak Theatre, Hollywood. It really sounds very ordinary when I retell it, but the fact that I remember it to this day... well! I went in one morning for my regular fix of Hazelnut Latte, and lo and behold, they were out of Hazelnut syrup for my latte. I made do with something else that I liked all the same. What amazed me was that the next day when I went back to the same store for my fix, the Barista remembered and offered me a free cup of my Hazelnut Latte, because 'they are so sorry that they ran out the day before'. =)

Have you had a similar experience? Be it Starbucks related or not? I love great customer service!
