Downtown KL

Honestly, I have never been downtown much ever since I graduated from high school. By downtown I mean the Petaling Street, Kotaraya, Central Market part of the downtown. I went down yesterday, with my eyes peeled open and to my surprise noted so many things that I had never thought was there before.

There were a lot of shops in the shophouses who do wholesale trade of accessories, bags etc snuggled in between the odd coffee shop and indian mamak or two. There were of course some empty lots and most of the shops look run down due to the peeling paint.

I also took a walk from Jln Tun H.S. Lee to S&M Shopping Arcade a few blocks away. I think the area actually really looks rejuvenated compared to what I remembered of it in my school years. Quite a few buildings have been repainted and/or restored. Everything looks updated and fresh.

Hey if memory serves me right, there's even a Starbucks tucked away in Kotaraya even if I have never been there. (Had one or two CPA workshops in the hotel opposite Kotaraya before)

On the walk back to Warisan Plaza, I found the food court which has a stall serving Vegetarian Chap Fan which I used to frequent as a school girl! Quite excited about it cause I thought I'd never find the place again now that its all become a bit of a maze in my memory.

I think I discovered more about old KL on my own yesterday than I ever did in the last 6 years of my life... to think that it used to be an after school haunt. What changed? Why did we never feel the urge or need to go back there after we leave school?
