LETTER FROM MALAYSIA
Fighting to preserve a 500-year-old identity
By Richard Bernstein

Its a sad but true reality in Malaysia. We see it everyday in the newspapers, be it the little voices of the public or the loud voice of the politicians, the inability to accept that we are different and learn to accept these differences. The very childishness of the people in politics prevents the greater community from having the opportunity to learn from each other and get to know each other.
To the world, we are a nation who pride ourselves on multiculturalism, but to ourselves, we are a nation who puts our own race, colour and creed above the nation. We are slowly disintegrating by refusing to change and to accept, why?
