Touched by a Wedding...

It has been a while since that I, and I must imagine, many of us, have been touched by a Wedding.

What is a wedding to us in these modern times? When we do not know more than 90% of the attendees and even when many present are relatives, families are sometimes feuding or just perhaps so out of touch that the younger ones have no topic of conversation and do not seem to know their cousins and second cousins whether once removed or not.

Most weddings nowadays also tend to have an overflow of entertainment, from invited singer/dancers to karaoke etc. Such that you hardly have time to eat and it is always too loud to speak to your neighbours at the table.

Personally, I would prefer a simple wedding with a jazz band/music in the background and not much of anything else. As such I have to admit that my cousin's very simple wedding was very much effective in a slightly surprising way and this has reinforced my idea that just the music will do.

Leonard and Priscilla had only music, albeit really nice oldies both chinese and english that many young people would not have heard of (including my sister, who was surprised that I could sing to most of them). It was so simple that, their slides show and their short speech, full of love, smiles and care really touched me.

That aside (for one tries to suppress the tears when wearing eye makeup), the food was surprisingly good too. The Imperial has really outdone itself this time! There was a bowl full of sharks fin that was poured into the soup at the table, although the soup was a little too salty for my liking, I had seconds just for the fin. *grins*

The chicken was soft and succulent and it must've been the first time I've ever had such yummy chicken at a banquet, wedding or not. The rest were not particularly outstanding but very much up to par with restaurants' food (as opposed to hotels), especially the huge mushrooms!

Overall, highly satisfying, and I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to hold a banquet for around 600 pax or under. (Must've cost a bomb though)
