Cips Plas Away Day 2007

2 to 4 November 2007 - Trip to Malacca

Day 1
Arrived in A Famosa Resort at about 9:20am from 1 Sentral where Shee Na, TJ and Eric(a) joined me. Whiled away a lil time while the organisers (Divya and Eric) sorted out the rooms and let us check in. By 10:30am, we're off to the training ground for some activities of sorts...

First activity - telematches! Sadly for my team, though we started out well (1st placing in the first game!), it sort of went downhill from there... sighhh... we're just lucky we didn't finish last babes...

Lunch and some r&r later, we headed off for Rescue 911... a game where you had to cross some obstacles as a team and rescue a team member who has been held hostage. Throughout it all, the hardest parts has to be done by a blindfolded member while others guided him/her. It was planning, execution and finishing at its best, or it was supposed to be... I don't think any team performed the perfect plan but then there were those who did really well! and then there were those who got disqualified (my team and another) for stepping on a mine... (wtf!)

After a rest and a shower, we headed off for dinner and my goodness... way too much alcohol! But then, that's pretty usual ;-)

Day 2
Woke up with a seriously upset stomach due to the gassy drinks used as mixers. Had some one on one with the wash basin before I slept for another 3 hours or so (bad sleep...). Finally couldn't take it, so I got up and took a shower before heading out in search of food to line my stomach.

The fun begins as we checked out and headed out to M'cca town in search of FOOD. First stop, chicken rice ball (its the same place I went with Lip Jin n gang during the Treasure Hunt in 2005). We travelled down to town via the trunk roads... and boy, do they drive really slow... and have this tendency of hogging two lanes at the same time! *idiots*

After the chicky rice, we took a walk down Jonker St, had some durian laced cendol (I still liked the one we had on the TH05 trip better) and proceeded to check in at the apartment. Dinner is at Capitol Satay Celup... 1st time I ever tried something like this, its really interesting... sort of like a combination of 'lok lok', steamboat and satay sauce... but the q to get in was horrendously long, so I suggest anyone who doesn't want to q for ages to get there by 6pm.

We adjourned after dinner back to Jonker St, this time we navigated the entire st from one end to the other, the stuff on sale were not spectacular in anyway but we did bump into a whole host of PwC staff being shown around town by their local friends (also PwCians).

I was so tired by the end of this that I just plopped on the bed and didn't wake up till the next morning =p

Day 3
The earliest to get up (due to my early bedtime the night before), I had a nice shower before settling down to read while waiting for the rest to get up and get ready. We then went out for lunch at Aunty Lee's famous Nyonya food. Got lost a little, called for help... and got there about 15 minutes after the planned time hehehe!

The restaurant has this weird serving rule. Walk-ins have to wait for everyone who reserved and pre-ordered their food to get served before they get theirs, even if they arrived before the ppl who pre-ordered. So imagine how funny it was to see this two girls (lesbian couple) walk in while two tables of 10 were waiting for their food. Sit down and waited... and before those two tables were served, another 10 or so walked in... it was to their horrors to find out, they got a lil pissed and left in a huff (well not really a huff hehe! but they did leave).

After a drive about town to get some Starbucks (my trusty friend) in order to stay awake during the trip home, we set off home!

p.s. Chi Ming, your lane changing skills is really lacking... you need more training!

I had a movie and dinner date with friends later that day but that's another story... =)
