HK Trip Day 1

I woke up seriously early today for the flight to HK, haven't finished packing so am rushing last minute stuff into the luggage (as usual). JW's picking CL and me up so at least I don't have to worry about the getting to the airport part.

So this looks like a great beginning to a great trip right? No. At the airport, the worst experience I have ever had at check-in in any airport in the world occurred. It was horrifying and terribly inconvenient, especially at that time of the morning, when all could have went well and I would have a great day ahead of me. Sigh... It also quite nearly killed the mood I usually am in pending a flight, CL and I are planning on descending on the MAS Customer Service office when we get back for all the inconvenience they have caused us and the emotional distress it has caused me.

Anyways I have to say thanks to JW for helping me sort everything out and getting me on the plane on time.

The flight was generally pleasant with the exception of a few kids/babies crying now and then in the row ahead of me and next to me. (It was a Boeing 777 so the seats are in a configuration of 2-5-2) We each had two seats each, CL the window and aisle 2 seats and me the aisle +1 seat in the centre row so it was fairly comfortable.

On touchdown we had some
Ajisen Ramen, which according to CL, tastes better here in HK than in M'sia at the arrival hall of the HKIA. Yummmm! We suspect its due to the fact that they can put pork bones into the process of boiling the soup hereabouts =) I got to practice my Japanese (ok it was just one word) with these Japanese businessmen on the next table who asked about the items that we're having.

We took the airport express into the city and that was clean, efficient and fun (other than the part where we had to stand for quite a bit as the car we were in was full). But then when we got to Hong Kong station, we had to endure this two hour wait for DW to appear with the apartment keys, without which, we don't have access to our abode here in HK.

Funnily enough, when we finally got our hands on the keys, we realise that none of us knew the address of the apartment. Not DW, not CL, not me... so we resorted to calling a whole host of individuals (as KS wasn't answering his phone at first...) After some frantic moments calling, we finally got hold of him and got the proper address as we previously only knew that its in Sheung Wan, its on Queen's Road Central, its on the 25th floor... but building name and number? huh? *blur* *blanks*

We were given the runaround by a cabby who dropped us off about 170 street numbers early (the building name is rather similar but this is an office tower instead of an apartment building), so we ended up walking the remaining part of the road on foot.

As we walked into the little box they call an apartment here in HK (its not that small for one person but compared to Australian standards, which I'm rather used to, this is small), we just dropped on the couch and couldn't move for a bit. Too tired to speak.

After a rest, we were good to go and went for a walk from Sheung Wan towards Central and arrived at the IFC about 1 hour to closing time. As it was my first time in IFC, we had a look around and then started our walk back to the apartment, stopping on the way back at a tiny place (common in HK but I can't place it, should I call it a restaurant, a diner or a cha sat/coffee shop?) for dinner in the form of Wanton Mee (noodles). The noodles tastes like my favourite instant noodle brand's noodles so I loved it (can't remember the brand but will update later with a picture) and I had Shui Gao with my noodles which were juicy and had sizeable prawns in them.

Its been a tiring day, so we dropped off to sleep the minute we got back and got washed up. More tomorrow on what KS' place looks like (the cute lil box) =p
